Getting All Firewired.

Had more than a week of it so far, from new goods not working as they should to old stuff kicking up their clogs in a row to near devastating effect. Both machines are up and about to be set back up for the studio, they both lost their operating systems and putting the old one in the shop saved the new one when it went down. The small SSD (solid state drive) with no moving parts to fail as the two old drives fell over. Is up and running in the Dell (500mb M2 type drive) and it now boots from it. The 2TB new SSD for the Dell would not boot and so, even though its faster than the M2 it is a stable install drive for the apps and for the studio work.

The old HP has a new SSD 1TB drive and with the new memory is a good upgraded machine and is working faster than I could have asked for. The 1TB drive is the same make as the Dells 2TB and the system boots from it fine. I also bought a DVD tray enclosure to put the old drive back in the HP as an internal store of 1TB so it has also doubled its storage capacity. The old drive was put through a sector test and six bad sectors were found and marked so it was damaged by use over the last four years, but it will do till I can replace it with another SSD, or it may inherit the current SSD from the Dell with 2TB of fast access space to triple its capacity. That means of course buying another SSD for the Dell at a later stage.

The networks are not fixed yet got a few gremlins left to work out. The new Andoer camcorder is a bit flaky with night shoots and the auto focus is a pain at times but I still managed to shoot the TRNSMT acts that I could see from my balcony, the first job for the studio is editing the stills and the video from the Andoer, the Kodak and even from the old digital Samsung. Some of the stills are already up here and the rest will follow once the edit is complete.

Managed a Friday shoot and the sound is iffy from the Andoer (clip on mic) and the sound from the Kodak does not cover the same songs so have to fine the audio down. The delay from the sound reaching the balcony is about a second and a half so the sound will need to be synced and dropped out as a separate file for editing.
